Amsterdam Adventures!

Hello all!

This past weekend I took one of my last trips outside of London before I head home to New York in less than a month! It is crazy to think that I have less than 4 weeks here, and in that 4 weeks I will be missing Thanksgiving, working my internship, traveling one more time, and also going to a concert to see Taylor Swift!

But before I get ahead of myself, lets back track to my weekend in the Netherlands. My friends and I landed Saturday morning and although we were welcomed with rain we still loved every minute of seeing Amsterdam. We went in with no plans, something I usually don't do, and just played everything by ear of what we wanted to see and do.

When you look at a map of Amsterdam all you see is canals and it holds true when you get there. The whole time we walked we were crossing bridges, taking in the beautiful scenery of the boat houses and all the bikes lined up on the fences.

In our three days we went to 5 museums, my favorite being the MOCO holding modern work of Banksy, a street artist originating in London back in the early 2000's. We also got to see Van Gogh's work and learn about his life which was really interesting to see where his perspective on art came from. And luckily, last minute we were able to snatch tickets to the Anne Frank House, where a Jewish family hid for 2 years during World War 2 when Amsterdam was being invaded by Nazi Germany.

We also took a canal cruise, saw the Amsterdam sign, walked through the Red Light District (an interesting experience), and had a few beers at the Heineken Experience.

This city was on my original bucket list and I am so glad I made it there. Now all I have left is a weekend trip to Scotland before my next journey is an 8 hour flight into Canada!

So on that note, I hope everyone at home enjoys Thanksgiving this week and although I work and will not be celebrating like normal, I am the most thankful this year for all of the amazing experiences I have had thus far.
