Hello all!
It has been a busy 2 weeks!
Since I have last posted, my sister came to visit, I have been to Barcelona and Rome (hence the mix of Spanish and Italian title) and I have started my internship! So let me catch you up!
My sister arrived Friday the 20th and we immediately did all of the London things! I showed her all of my favorite places and taught her all I know about British culture, which is a lot seeing as I've been here for 2 months!
We quickly had to switch gears as we flew out for Barcelona on Saturday night and spent 3 amazing days there! The weather was a perfect 70 degrees and sunny the whole time, allowing us to wear shorts, relax on the beach with a drink, and walk basically everywhere to see all of the sites! Locals were wearing coats and probably thought we were maniacs but living in New York, who knows when we will see the sun again!
Barcelona was spent strutting down La Rambla, the shopping district, admiring Gaudi's work at Park Guell, and eating patatas bravas and sangria for just about every meal. My 2 flatmates were also in Barcelona at the time so we got to grab a paella dinner with them before we headed out for Roma!
Jessie and I truly struggled leaving Spain because we had such an amazing time but as Italian girls we had to head to the homeland (even though we're from Sicily).
Arriving in Rome we immediately had a pasta and wine dinner and wow was it everything an Italian could ask for! The pasta was the freshest I've ever tasted, but thats probably because I eat pasta out of the box normally! None the less, it was worth the hype that everyone makes about Italians and their food!
We spent our 3 days there getting lost in the Vatican City, walking hours in the Roman Forum and Colosseum, and showing up to the Trevi Fountain to see it dyed red! We found out that someone had purposely thrown red paint into the fountain as a protest but that didn't stop tourists from throwing coins in and me almost getting hit by said coins multiple times! Luckily, the police were able to clean the fountain for us to get our pictures there the next day.
After 3 days of pasta, pizza, gelato and plenty of wine, Jessie and I headed back to London. The week flew by and all of a sudden my sister and last visitor for the semester was gone. I am so glad I was able to experience another 2 countries over the week and even more glad that my sister was the one I was able to experience it with.
Since then I have had a busy week in London that I will update on later!
So on that note, I'll post some beautiful sunny pictures of Barcelona and Rome but if you want a real depiction of how our time was spent for a week, check out my sisters Instagram @blessed2bjessed !
