Bonjour!
Last night I landed back in London from a dream trip to Paris!
Friday with our travels beginning at 2:30AM, we arrived safely in Paris and had a day full of sights I never imagined seeing!
We began with a walk towards the river Seine as we came across the famous Notre Dame cathedral completely on accident, which was a nice surprise! As we passed Parisian street artists on the river, we headed towards the Gardens of Luxembourg on our way to the Louvre. Even with a little rain we kept walking and arrived at the famous Louvre museum.
Luckily, because we are recognized as international students in Europe we were able to get into the museum for free! I saw the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci and the greek sculpture of Venus de Milo! Seeing classic pieces of art in real life was eye opening to the history within Europe. This museum truly deserved the 3 hours we spent meandering through it.
We decided to end our day by just catching a glimpse of the beautiful Eiffel Tower even if the clouds did not look so friendly. The 2 other girls I was with were just as giddy as I was to be seeing this beautiful structure for the first time and wow was it beautiful!
Saturday was spent at the Palace and Gardens of Versailles, home to the French royalty back before the French Revolution. The grounds were perfectly kept as if the royals still lived there toady and the history behind each area was more interesting than the next. For anyone interested in visiting these sites, I would highly recommend putting aside a whole day as we spent a full 8 hours on the royal property.
Ending the night with watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle in the sky, we spent our last day enjoying the sunshine that the city finally brought. We saw the Arc de Triomphe, a monument for all who have fought in wars for France, and walked down the Champs-Elysees where we stopped and got our French macaroons, one of my favorite desserts!
After stopping at a small grocery store for a bottle of champagne, we headed to the Eiffel Tower for a last day picnic to take in the city and all of its beauty!
So on that note, my French dream is over and its back to a week of classes and life as a Brit! Not for long though as I am heading to Stockholm, Sweden this Friday for another adventure!
