Landed in London!

Hello all!

I cannot believe that it has already been 4 days since I have arrived in London!

It has been a busy 4 days so I apologize for those who have not heard from me! I also suspended my US phone number and now have a UK number just like the rest of the Brits! If you would like to text me just email or Facebook me and I will be happy to give it to you!

So arriving in London....wow was that an adventure! I arrived at 11AM on Wednesday into Heathrow airport. Our flight was a little early so before we could land the plane our pilot took a trip around central London where I got to see my first glimpse of Big Ben!

After landing, getting my bags and taking the tube into town (just like the subway), I was welcomed with plenty of that well known London rain! Soaking wet I made my way to my flat where I am living with 11 other girls! For a girl who has basically had her own room all throughout college I bet you can guess this is a little different of an experience for me. But I'm hanging in there on my top bunk bed!

My roommates and I spent the first few days simply exploring our little borough of London, the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea. No big deal that I live in a ROYAL borough where Princess Diana lived and now her son Prince William and Kate live in the Kensington Palace just a 10 minute walk from my flat. I even was able to visit the memorial for Princess Diana on the 20th anniversary of her death which was beautiful.

It wasn't until Saturday that I toured the whole city of London and wow was it an experience! My friends and I stood on the Westminster Bridge for hours admiring Big Ben, Parliament, the magnificent London Eye, the river Thames, and the hustle and bustle of the double decker buses that London is so well known for. I haven't had the traditional fish and chips just yet but had a wrap version of the British meal, which is a big deal for a girl who never eats fish! I quickly realized how blessed I am to be living in this beautiful city experiencing life to the fullest.

The main takeaway from my first few days was when I spoke to my mom Saturday after I had explored central London and she said, "wow you've already seen it all!", when in reality its the exact opposite! This city is full of endless opportunities, and sites to see, and experiences to be had and I am so lucky to be at the beginning of my journey.

Although I start classes this week, I plan to keep busy all week long, exploring museums when that famous London rain comes along, and taking the tube to a new stop just for fun. I even have my first weekend trip planned as I will be heading to Paris on Friday morning for a weekend of crepes and staring in aw the Eiffel Tower!

So on that note, I better start brushing up on my French!

Bonsoir!

Aub
